Counting the Cars on the New Jersey Turnpike

In times like these, the cold and rain have no place. The world scatters and crazes over global warming and all's I can say is, "Warm it up, baby!" I know that's ignorant on my part, but I'm feeling sorta ignorant right now. So shoot me. See, I figure that anyone that says they don't want to sound or look a little ignorant once in a while is probably lying to me. I'm at a point where I cherish the out-loud words from people, even when their words and actions are silly or pointless. Why? Well, I'll tell you.
See, we hold ourselves to these absurd standards sometimes, benchmarks that stop us from saying dopey stuff or acting infantile. I know it shouldn't be a regular part of life, not adult American life, but we gotta learn how to play and laugh again.

I wish I, in my middle-aged American self could summon some silliness more often than I do. When I do the right/sober and sane thing, I feel like I'm missing something important. Sometimes I just have to turn my back on seriousness.

For me things have become too benign, too regimented. On those rare occasions when I laugh hysterically for no particular reason at all, I feel the most alive. I feel like I could cross the mighty ocean and sail away. Don't be following me if you can't swim.
